Remember: You Live with Yourself

On social media, getting the attention of others–including strangers–relies on hashtags and catchy captions. The attention you receive is in the form of likes and comments, sometimes even re-shares. However, it’s not personal, and their attention is lost as quickly as you gained them. Getting that constant stream of short attention takes so much effort, and it’s all for nothing productive or constructive. The danger is in not getting the compliments you’re gotten used to; this can have serious consequences on your mental health.

Even without anyone giving you compliments, you should be able to appreciate your own beauty. When you buy that eyebrow makeup, you should be thinking of its benefits for you and how you like the way you look with it. This is different than thinking you’re getting a good deal on the makeup because you will get everyone’s attention when you wear it.

You Need Your Own Support

You go to great lengths–dress in clothes you think other people like, and talk about their interests instead of yours–to no avail. At the end of the day, you only feel sadder and less accomplished, but you’re also exhausted because you have worked hard with nothing to show f or it. No matter how old you are or what stage of life you’re in, it’s important to always have your own support. This means instead of seeking approval from everyone else

, you should be focusing on achieving your dreams. The people who matter in your life will be there to support you wholeheartedly if they know you’re pursuing something that makes you happy.

You can be Unstoppable if You Believe in Yourself

Studies show that people achieve greater things when they look good. But this is not to say that only the most beautiful ones can succeed. It’s less to do with beauty and more to do with confidence. If you believe in your skills and that confidence shows through, you will look more beautiful in the eyes of others. But most importantly, you will look beautiful and capable in your own eyes. Why is this important when it doesn’t affect your skills? This changes your attitude towards your dreams. When you don’t spend time worrying about your appearance, you have more time to just do.

When you don’t believe in yourself and you look for external sources of approval and validation, you’re limiting your own potential. No one may realize the internal struggle you have, and at the end of the day, you’re the only one losing to yourself. End this battle against yourself, stop turning to others for validation, and be your own person. Only then can you start living your best life.
